Rick is done...

George and I were with our driver and navigator at McDonalds in Mercersburg, PA when the RV pulled up telling us that we needed to double back and George needed to take over. Rick's achilles tendon has been giving him a lot of trouble since early in the ride and he says that it snapped at the beginning of the big climb between TS 51 and TS 52. He thinks that he might be able to ride the final parade leg into Atlantic City if it's absolutely flat. We're hoping so...he has worked so hard!!!

Positive thoughts for George, he has 234 miles to take on before Atlantic City. Keep your comments coming, I'll be at his side the whole way and he loves your support.

234. Sounds like a Brevet to me. Well, except for those cars that are following you, and keeping you fed and hydrated and motivated and everything. You can so do this!!

Did you hear Janet and her teammate broke the record for 2 person-female team?

You Go George Vargas. These hills are all you!!

Rick, rest up and get well enough to ride that parade route. You've earned it! You deserve to roll across that boardwalk!

I'm keeping great thoughts for this team. I believe in you!

I figured that a quote from the one and only Joe Paterno coach of Penn State Football is fiting since your in PA......

When a team outgrows individual performance and learns team confidence, excellence becomes a reality.
- Joe Paterno

Lou Holtz, former Notre Dame football coach
All winning teams are goal-oriented. Teams like these win consistently because everyone connected with them concentrates on specific objectives. They go about their business with blinders on; nothing will distract them from achieving their aims.

George your new objective is to get your TEAM throught the next 230+ miles.......do it for your team and do it because you and your teamate Rick and crew deserve it...

At Palomar, you once told me, "bring on the rain!" Use it to your advantage again today.

I'm sitting here looking at your Time Station Stat Sheet you left me, and the dang thing is almost ALL filled in! I'm so damn proud of you.

You're bringing it home George; back to where it all started. Do it for that kid on his bike on the streets of Jersey back in the day. He's damn proud of you too!

After that you can cruise into New Jersey, and hear all of our shouts as you and Rick roll up on the Boardwalk.

Keep it up! You're doing great!

Sorry to hear of Rick's issues, what a champion! Okay, George --- I've been following, on and off, all night Thursday, and thinking, hell this is just another Heartbreak DC to the finish for George. Hammer home, my man! I am IMMENSELY proud of you and Rick, AND the team, and cannot even BEGIN to conceive how challenging this has been. You ARE the man!
